  2. Valid Photo ID (Original): Any one original, valid government-issued photo identity proof (e.g., Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Driving License, or Passport).

PBT Mode Specific Instructions

As the exam is paper-based, candidates must carry the following stationery items:

  • Blue or Black Ballpoint Pens (Two): Essential for marking answers on the OMR Answer Sheet. Accurate shading of the options is crucial, as the sheet is machine-scanned.
  • Prohibited Items: Strictly avoid carrying mobile phones, electronic gadgets (including calculators and smartwatches), bags, books, notes, or any personal belongings into the test centre. Rough sheets will be provided inside the examination hall.

Understanding the Exam Pattern

The MAT exam is a 120-minute test consisting of 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) distributed across five sections, with 30 questions in each section.

Section NameQuestionsMarks
Language Comprehension3030
Intelligence and Critical Reasoning3030
Data Analysis & Data Sufficiency3030
Mathematical Skills3030
Indian & Global Environment3030

The marking scheme provides +1 mark for every correct answer and a penalty of -0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. Candidates must carefully manage the two-hour duration, as there is no sectional time limit, allowing for flexible movement between sections.
