The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, Maharashtra, has activated the online portal for Round 2 Preference/Choice Filling for the NEET PG 2025 Counselling for state quota seats (MD/MS/PG Diploma). The process, which began on December 15, 2025, is set to close shortly, with the final deadline for choice submission and locking scheduled for tomorrow, December 17, 2025, at 11:59 PM.

This round is crucial for candidates seeking an upgrade from a Round 1 allotted seat, those who did not secure a seat in the first round, and eligible candidates joining the counselling process for the first time. Aspirants are strongly advised to utilize the updated seat matrix and fill their preferences today to avoid last-minute technical issues.

Who Should Fill Choices in Round 2?
It is critical to understand the eligibility for choice filling in this round:
- No Seat in Round 1: Candidates who registered and appeared in the merit list but were not allotted any seat in Round 1 must fill fresh choices.
- Upgradation Seekers: Candidates who secured and joined a seat in Round 1 but submitted a Status Retention Form indicating a desire to participate in Round 2 for an upgrade must fill fresh choices. Their Round 1 seat will be automatically forfeited upon allotment of a higher preference in Round 2.
- Fresh Eligible Candidates: New eligible candidates who registered and had their documents verified are also required to fill choices.
Choice Filling Strategy and Locking
Candidates must approach the choice filling process strategically. The allotment is based strictly on merit rank and the order of preferences filled.
- Review the Seat Matrix: Carefully analyze the newly vacant seats in your preferred courses (MD/MS) and colleges (Government, Corporation, Private).
- Prioritize Preferences: List choices in absolute order of preference, placing the most desired course/college combination at the top. The system will attempt to allot the highest possible choice.
- Mandatory Locking: Choices can be modified until the deadline but must be locked before 11:59 PM IST on December 17, 2025. Unlocked choices will not be processed by the system.
Candidates must download and print the Choice Locking Receipt for future reference. For comprehensive details on the counselling process, fee structure, and reservation policies, follow Only Education News.
