The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, is currently conducting the online registration process for the Maharashtra MBA Common Entrance Test (MAH MBA CET) 2026. As of today, the application window remains open for aspirants seeking admission to Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Management Studies (MMS) programs across the state. This year’s admission cycle is particularly notable as the state has introduced a two-session exam format to provide candidates with more flexibility and better scoring opportunities.

Registration Details and Application Process

The online portal at cetcell.mahacet.org has been active since early January, allowing candidates to create profiles and submit their credentials. The State CET Cell has emphasized that all participants must complete their registration before the tentative deadline in late February 2026 to be eligible for the entrance tests.

  • Step-by-Step Filing: Applicants must first register with a valid email ID and mobile number. Following this, they are required to fill in personal details, upload scanned photographs, and provide academic transcripts.
  • Fee Structure: The application fee is set at ₹1,200 for Open Category candidates (including those from Outside Maharashtra State) and ₹1,000 for reserved categories and Persons with Disability (PwD) from Maharashtra only.
  • Mandatory Identification: For the 2026-27 academic year, the university has made Aadhaar authentication and the generation of an APAAR ID mandatory during the registration phase to ensure secure identity verification.

Exam Pattern and New Two-Session Format

In a major shift for the 2026 cycle, the MAH MBA CET will be conducted in two distinct sessions. The first session is scheduled for April 6–8, 2026, followed by a second session on May 9, 2026. This move allows students to attempt the exam twice, with the university considering the higher of the two scores for the final admission merit list.

  • Test Structure: The exam remains a computer-based test (CBT) consisting of 200 multiple-choice questions. It is divided into four sections: Logical Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and Verbal Ability.
  • Marking Scheme: Each correct answer earns 1 mark, and significantly, there is no negative marking, encouraging a high attempt rate among test-takers.
  • Duration: Candidates are allotted a total of 150 minutes to navigate through the questions, with no sectional time limits imposed during the online session.

Eligibility Criteria and CAP Rounds

The MAH MBA CET serves as the primary gateway to top-tier Maharashtra institutes such as JBIMS, SIMSREE, and PUMBA. Eligibility for the application is strictly governed by academic performance and domicile status, which are verified during the Centralized Admission Process (CAP).

  • Academic Requirement: Candidates must have a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in their graduation (45% for reserved categories). Final-year students are also eligible to apply, provided they complete their degree by the time of admission.
  • Domicile Benefits: While candidates from across India can apply, those with a Maharashtra domicile have access to a significant portion of the state-quota seats.
  • Selection Process: Following the results in May, the admission will be finalized through multiple CAP rounds where candidates list their college preferences based on their final percentile.

Conclusion

The ongoing 2026 MAH MBA CET cycle marks a transition toward a more student-friendly entrance ecosystem in Maharashtra. With the online portal currently accepting forms and the introduction of a second exam attempt, the university has provided a robust platform for management aspirants. As the February deadline approaches, candidates are encouraged to finalize their registration and verify their application data to ensure a smooth transition into the competitive April and May examination windows.
