The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala, has granted a final extension for the NEET PG 2025 Round 1 choice-filling process. The new deadline for submitting and locking your preferred courses and colleges is now November 24, 2025. This extension, necessitated by the revised MCC All India Quota schedule, offers a vital chance to medical aspirants. Ensure your preferences for MD, MS, and DNB seats in Government and Private colleges in Kerala are accurately submitted on cee.kerala.gov.in before the final closure.

The high-stakes admission process for postgraduate medical courses (MD, MS, and DNB) in Kerala has been granted a crucial extension. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala, the designated authority for the State Quota counselling, announced the extension of the Round 1 Choice-Filling Window for NEET PG 2025 candidates. Originally set to close earlier, the deadline has been officially moved to November 24, 2025.

This decision, communicated on November 22, 2025, is a proactive measure to synchronize the Kerala State counselling timeline with the frequently revised schedule of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for the All India Quota (AIQ). By extending the deadline, CEE Kerala ensures that candidates participating in both the national and state counselling processes have sufficient time to make well-informed, strategic decisions. All qualified candidates whose names appear on the Kerala State Merit List must utilize this final opportunity to log in, register, or modify their options via the official web portal, cee.kerala.gov.in. This round includes allotment for State Quota seats in prestigious institutions like Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, and various Self-Financing Private Medical Colleges.

Revised Round 1 Schedule and Post-Deadline Timeline

The extension of the choice-filling deadline has consequentially shifted the subsequent allotment and reporting dates. Candidates must strictly adhere to this revised and accelerated schedule to secure their seats.

  • Final Choice Filling and Locking Deadline:November 24, 2025. Candidates must ensure their options are submitted and locked on the portal cee.kerala.gov.in before this time.
  • Provisional Allotment Result: The processing of seat allotment is expected to begin immediately, with the provisional result likely published on November 25 or 26, 2025.
  • Final Allotment Result and Reporting: The final result and the subsequent dates for fee payment and physical reporting/joining at the allotted colleges have also been adjusted and will be announced on the official CEE website. This reporting window is critical and is typically non-extendable.
  • Security Deposit Requirement: All candidates must have paid the refundable security deposit (typically ₹10,000 for General/SEBC and ₹5,000 for SC/ST/OEC candidates) to be eligible for choice submission.

Choice Filling Strategy: Maximizing Allotment Chances

Choice filling is a non-academic skill that heavily dictates the final seat allotment. Given the diverse options in Kerala, a strategic approach is mandatory to maximize your chances, especially considering the different fee structures and quotas.

  • Order of Preference: List your options (Course–College–Quota combination) in the strict descending order of priority. The allotment software stops at the highest ranked choice available for your NEET PG rank and category.
  • Utilize the Full Seat Matrix: CEE Kerala has published a detailed seat matrix that includes approximately 860 seats (or the updated count) across Government and Self-Financing colleges.
    • Government Quota: Seats in Government Medical Colleges and Government Quota seats in Private Self-Financing Colleges have annual tuition fees as low as ₹57,890/-.
    • Self-Financing/Management Quota: Seats in Private Colleges have significantly higher annual tuition fees (e.g., up to 19.42 Lakhs for certain institutions).
  • Only Choose Definitive Options: Follow the CEE directive: "A candidate should give options for a Course–College-Quota combination only if he or she is certain to join the course and college under the chosen quota, if allotted." Failure to report may lead to forfeiture of the security deposit and exclusion from future rounds.
  • Service Quota Consideration: Eligible service candidates (MESQ, HSQ, IMSQ) must ensure their choices accurately reflect the service quota seats to utilize the reservation benefit, as a 10% reservation is typically earmarked for service candidates in Government Medical Colleges.

Fee Structure, Bonds, and Kerala's Medical Landscape

Kerala's medical colleges are highly regarded, but aspirants must be fully aware of the financial and service commitments associated with various institutions.

  • Government Colleges: Offer high-quality training and clinical exposure at a highly subsidized fee (approx. ₹57,890 per annum). They also offer a competitive stipend (often around ₹57,876 per month).
  • Self-Financing Colleges: Offer seats at a wide range of higher fees, categorized differently for State Merit, Private Management, and NRI Quotas. Candidates must check the official fee structure notification available on the CEE website.
  • Service Bond: While the general rule for PG courses in Kerala is often less stringent than in some states, candidates allotted seats in Government Medical Colleges are typically required to execute a service bond (e.g., for ₹50 Lakhs) in case they prematurely discontinue the course. This penalty amount needs to be confirmed with the latest prospectus.
  • Top Institutions: The most sought-after colleges include:
    • Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram
    • Government Medical College, Kozhikode
    • Government Medical College, Kottayam
    • Regional Cancer Centre (RCC), Thiruvananthapuram (for specific oncology-related courses).

Conclusion

The extension of the CEE Kerala NEET PG 2025 Round 1 choice-filling deadline to November 24, 2025, provides a crucial opportunity for final strategic adjustments. Given the complexity of the seat matrix—encompassing subsidized Government seats and higher-fee Private seats—aspirants must use the remaining time to research past cutoffs, verify fee structures, and precisely order their options on cee.kerala.gov.in. Prompt adherence to the new deadline is essential to avoid being excluded from this vital allotment round.
