The Ministry of Education (MoE) has reconstituted the Joint Admission Board (JAB) to ensure the smooth conduct of JEE Main and JEE Advanced for the 2026 and 2027 academic years. This move is designed to bring greater transparency and efficiency to the engineering admission process.

Key Leadership and Roles

The newly revamped board will be headed by Professor S.K. Jain, the former Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University (BHU). The JAB is a high-level body with a broad representation from leading institutions and government bodies, including:

  • Directors from various IITs, NITs, and IIITs.
  • Representatives from state governments.
  • A representative from Vellore Institute of Technology.
  • The Chairman of CBSE.
  • The Director Generals of NIC and C-DAC.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will serve as the permanent secretariat for the board, responsible for all administrative, financial, and logistical aspects of JEE Main. This includes managing the information technology systems for the exam. The NTA Director General will act as the Member Secretary for the JAB.

What This Means for Aspirants

The reconstitution of the JAB is aimed at streamlining the processes for future JEE exams. For aspirants of JEE Main and JEE Advanced in 2026 and 2027, this means that the exams will be overseen by a dedicated board to ensure a fair, transparent, and efficient process. While the NTA will manage the JEE Main exam, a separate JAB for the IIT system will continue to oversee the JEE Advanced exam. An Interface Group with members from NTA, IITs, and ISI will also support the main JAB.

This change is an important step toward providing clarity and a structured framework for the upcoming JEE exams, which are crucial for every engineering aspirant.
