Detailed Insights into Key Exams

1. CAT (Common Admission Test)

The CAT is the only MBA entrance examination India conducted by the IIMs to which the highest number of candidates sit for. Currently, which is employed in over 1,200 business school throughout the United States of America.

  • Eligibility: It is also prescribed that candidates belonging to the reserved categories should secure minimum of 50% marks in the Bachelor’s degree examination or any other examination, which the Council may consider as equivalent for candidates belonging to the reserved categories, 45 percent.
  • Exam Pattern: This test also has three tests that include Varbal and Reading Comprehension (VRC), Data as well as Logical Thinking (DIT) and Numerical aptitude (QN).

2. XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test)

The XAT test like all other standard MBA entrance examinations is only conducted once a year by the XLRI Jamshedpur. Currently in India more than 700 institutes are using this.

  • Key Features: This paper alone has the GK section only apart from the usual sections only try it and see the result.
  • Difficulty Level: Moderate to high.

3. CMAT (Common Management Admission Test)

This test will be conducted by the National testing agency and the result will grant admission to several institutes recognized by AICTE.

  • Unique Feature: There is an elective known as Innovation and Entrepreneurship that ushers the students to the Job Market and potentially becoming entrepreneurs.

4. NMAT by GMAC

The NMAT also give the candidates convenience in that the candidates are allowed to sit for the test, in the testing window, three times. This is recognized by NMIMS and many other top ranked B-schools.

  • Special Advantage: Sectional time limits and flexibility in selection of sections sequence.

5. SNAP (Symbiosis National Aptitude Test)

SNAP test is the initial step for enrolling for MBA programs in varsity known as Symbiosis International University (SIU).

  • Format: This test was conducted in one hour, a shorter time than carried out under the traditional protocol.
  • Focus: Tests speed and accuracy.

MBA entrance examination preparation tips

  1. Understand the Exam Pattern: Learn the number and nature of the sections to be covered, what kind of questions is expected to be asked, and how the paper will be marked.
  2. Time Management: Space the working hours in a day and stick to these hours when addressing each subject.
  3. Mock Tests: Take mocks from time to time so that you know how much you have studied and where you are deficient.
  4. Focus on Fundamentals: Start improving your Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and Verbal Skills for the test.
  5. Stay Updated: If the exam you are preparing for has a General Knowledge part, read newspapers and follow what is going on in the world.

Why to give Multiple MBA Entrance Exams?

Giving more exams also adds up your odds in getting through a good B-school as you appear for more exams. A broad range of exams is available to complete for different institute and by expanding the option probability of a good chance increase.

Exam Acceptance by Top Colleges

In this period, some of the premier institutions for admission commence their first round. Top B-Schools like IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, and IIM Calcutta conduct their initial application rounds with specific deadlines:

  • First half Intake Executions (Sep-Dec 2024)
  1. IIM Ahmedabad, PGPX: Round 1 deadline 30th of August 2024
  2. IIM Bangalore, EPGP: Contest Round 1 use the site by August 7, 2024, deadline.
  3. IIM Calcutta: Round 1 is on August 20, 2024

  • Symbiosis is based upon the SNAP scores.

If you did not perform well in the CMAT you can always opt to do MAT and many colleges admit their students.

  • Other chances to enroll (January-February 2025)

This phase also offers a chance for candidates who were not evaluated in the previous stages a second shot at the opportunity. They initiate other cycles of admission so that more candidates can be considered.

  • School Year Opening (July and August 2025)

The last part of the admission process when certain participants commence their management education. Willing apllicant should plan for many exams and follow up for individual university dates for the same to increase chances of admission.
